Dungeons
One gladiator against one boss, fought round by round instead of resolved in a moment. A dungeon boss has a dedicated dungeon-tier health pool, and you have at most 90 rounds to bring it down.
Entry costs 2 expedition points. Each gate is its own room with its own boss, and you fight it alone: the trinity belongs to raids. What a dungeon sells that nothing else does is control over chance — the Crypt Marks it pays buy guaranteed outcomes at the Ossuary and, with Vinculum Fati, a way to protect up to 2 affixes while the others reroll.
The encounter has no real-time action countdown, but it does have a hard combat limit: reaching round 90 without killing the boss ends the run in defeat. Choose from the role action bar, build and spend Momentum, and mind cooldowns; the full action list is on Combat.
The 4 gates
| Dungeon | Opens at | Boss | Marks per clear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crypt of the Legion A fallen century stands eternal guard. Their centurion does not tire. |
Level 10 | Undying Centurion (level 12, melee) | ~6 |
| Flooded Hypogeum Beneath the arena, something vast stirs the black water. |
Level 25 | Drowned Colossus (level 28, magic) | ~10 |
| Obsidian Sanctum At the gates of Avernus, a shade-wrought titan bars the deeper dark. |
Level 40 | Avernal Titan (level 46, ranged) | ~13 |
| Mithraeum of the Ninth The Ninth marched north and left no graves. Its eagle-bearer still stands his post under the wall. |
Level 52 | Aquilifer of the Ninth (level 56, melee) | ~15 |
How often it pays
The first 3 clears of a day pay in full. After that the reward falls away: full, then full, then full, then half, then a quarter, then nothing. A good day is worth clearing out; it is not worth grinding into the night.
Crypt Marks and the Ossuary
Marks scale with the boss's level, so the highest gate you have opened is always the best earner. At the Ossuary they buy 6 offerings:
- Sealed Reliquary — One item in the slot you name, at your own level. No wondering which slot the dice will pick.
- Lapis Certus — The next ascension succeeds, up to Legendary. Not a better chance — a certainty.
- Lapis Numinis — The last step, taken for you: Legendary becomes Mythic. Nothing else raises an item this far.
- Scroll of Fatum — The next enchant lands. Fate stops asking.
- Ritus Instaurationis — A piece you crafted is raised to your own level. Enchant, socket and affixes come with it — and it becomes yours alone.
- Vinculum Fati — Name up to two affixes before you reroll. Those stay; the rest are cast again.
Every offering except Vinculum removes one particular roll of the dice. Vinculum Fati is different: it guarantees only that the affixes you name survive — up to 2 of them, on a single Vinculum, with at least one left unbound so there is still something to roll. The remaining affixes are cast again, so it does not guarantee the outcome, and the reroll spends a Tessera Fortunae alongside the Vinculum. Prices scale with your level, so the purchase remains tied to roughly the same number of clears as you advance.
Marks also buy the socket in your weapon — see Weapon Mastery, which is what unlocks it. The full price list is on Shops.
