Praeco

Praeco is the realm's guaranteed material buyer. He gives surplus gathering and processing materials a gold floor when no player happens to be buying them.

What Praeco buys

Praeco accepts an unbound material with a positive reference value. Bound goods, gear, and value-less special materials such as forge guarantees, raid stones and patterns are not eligible. The inventory and Praeco screen show only lots he can weigh.

Price formula

For a lot of materials, the payment is:

floor(reference value × quantity × 0.3)

The floor is applied to the whole lot, not to every unit separately. Cheap materials may therefore need to be sold together before their lot is worth one gold. The value shown on a material's wiki page is the reference value used by this formula and by market limits; it is not a promise that an ordinary trader pays that much.

Daily purse

Praeco pays at most 5,000 gold per character per day. A sale must fit in the remaining purse; the screen shows both what remains and the largest quantity that fits. Once it is empty, the player market remains available.

Praeco or the Market?

Praeco is a floor, not the best price. A player on the Market can value a scarce ingredient much more highly, and buy orders give you a guaranteed player price when one is open. Check the Market's public price guide before clearing a valuable stack.
