Rat King
A Boss-tier magic monster in Outskirts of Rome, encountered at levels 6–8. It counts toward quests that ask for elite or boss monsters, whatever your level.
Skills
Rat King has two named skills. Each fires once per fight, at the moment shown below. The boss card in Expeditions lists the same skills before you spend any energy, and the fight report names a skill when it fires.
| Skill | When | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Many Mouths | At the start of the fight | The king is a hundred rats and every one of them bites: +10% crit chance for the first 3 rounds. Punishes starting the fight hurt. |
| More Rats | When struck below 50% health | Struck below half health, more rats crawl into the knot: it recovers 5% of its maximum health, once. Punishes a low-damage build. |

This monster’s item levels are below 15, so epic and better cannot drop — those rolls become rare. The effective distribution is shown.
Themed loot: 60% of template rolls draw from this monster’s vermin pool — Ring, Amulet — and the remaining 40% from the full item catalogue.
Item level of a drop scales with the monster’s level; the numbers above are the fixed odds a win rolls against.
